Torin Armon Thames was born into this world surrounded by those who loved him, on April 4, 1990, to his parents William and Deirdre. The Birthing Suite at Denver Rose Medical Center was overly crowded with people eagerly awaiting Torin's arrival. Who on EARTH has over six guests witnessing a birth? TORIN!!! With tears and excitement, a little fainting and poop, the Good Lord gave us Torin Armon.
Torin was born and raised in New Hope Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. Torin accepted Christ at the tender age of five. When asked why he wanted to be baptized, Torin responded "I need to see Jesus NOW." Well, Torin, you had to wait 27 years, but you have seen the Lord, you have been embraced by the Lord, and you sit to the right of Jesus, watching over us as we Celebrate you.
Torin was a child of Park Hill. He attended Knight Academy Elementary, then Smiley. He spent many hours playing with his neighborhood friends like Evan, Evan... and Evan. Seriously, Evan, Renita, and really, there was another Evan.
Torin's parents and his sister were blessed to do all that they could to help him realize his dreams. They spent countless hours and resources attending USA Jr Olympic track meets across the country, cheering on Torin and his team mates. He was a Track and Field Medalist over and over again. Torin was also a fan of Basketball, he was a dedicated member of the Joint Effort Basketball Community, and Hooped for Denver East Angels Boys Basketball Team. Torin had a track coach at East who encouraged him to not only run track, but to play football as well. Torin's parents also tried to encourage him to play, but he wasn't having it. FINALLY... after many recommendations, Torin decided to give Football a try his Senior year. He loved the sport so much and regretted not playing all four years. In fact, he said to his parents: "Why didn't you, FORCE me to play Football?" Force?? Torin's dad responded that, as the good parents they are, they weren't going to FORCE him to do anything.
Unlike his UNCOOL cousins and sister who went to George High School, Torin attended Denver East. GO ANGELS!!!! In 2008 he was Homecoming King. After graduating from East, Torin went to Metro State University for his higher education experience.
Torin worked for several companies, but his longest tenure was at Tuscany coffee. His beautiful smile and magnetic personality kept customers coming, old ladies flirting and tips a flowing.
Torin's biggest dream, which he was blessed to realize, was to become a rapper and music producer He had a record label called World Toure and he performed in a duo at places like the Roxy down in the Five Points. His Sister, Desirea. possibly a little biased, said that he was actually VERY GOOD.
Torin was also in partnership with Tyler Kanwai and TK Productions where they hosted special event nights at local as well as regional night clubs across the State. The lines would be blocks long and Torin loved every second of it as he reveled in his increased popularity.
As we all know, Torin loved clothes, and shoes, and luxury goods, and….A trait he probably picked up from his mom. Just guessing, who knows???
While Torin Loved to travel to Las Vegas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix, he Loved Mississippi more than anything.
