Sharon "Mrs. Kay" Monroe gifted the world with her presence on June 27, 1954, in Ponca City, OK to Leora and Wes Tyler.
Sharon who preferred to be called Kay, spent the majority of her younger years in Albuquerque NM with her mother and three siblings where she was cultivated with a deep foundation of love, faith and family.
In 1968, Kay relocated to Denver, CO where she received her diploma and culinary arts certificate through Job Corps of America. In 1973, she received her associates in business management from Midwest College in Colorado Springs, CO. In 1990, she graduated Valedictorian at ConcordCareer Institute with a Diploma in Dental Assistant. In 2002 she received a certificate in computer programming from Aurora Community College. She proudly bragged about her being a professional student and the smartest in her entire family.
On February 16, 1975 She married her best friend and soulmate Michael Monroe. She was so proud to be not only his wife but a "Military wife" and gloated about being able to travel and live in various parts of the United States and in Germany.
Music was her love language. From sun up to sun down you could find Kay grooving while blasting her favorite songs on her P.A speaker, singing her heart out while cooking, or humming a tune while eating. She made sure that love of music radiated to everyone connected to her. She often reminisced about her happiest life story when she was 5yrs old, winning her first bingo and being able to buy her a ticket to the Tina Turner concert where she danced the night away. Besides music, bingo, cooking, art and traveling were her favorite hobbies. In 2019, at the age of 64, Kay decided to get her a U.S passport and declared she was going to travel as much as God allowed her to. One of her favorite destinations was Las Vegas NV and of course once she arrived, straight to the bingo hall she went.
Proverbs 31:10 says: Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above rubies. Kay was the true definition of a virtuous woman. She loved God with her whole heart and in doing so, she was prosperous in her family, home, and with anything she set her mind out to do. She wasn't shy to ask for what she wanted. Her motto was "A closed mouth, won't get fed." She was graced with a nurturing spirit, and a loving and caring heart that extended her hospitality to her biological family, a host of honorary family and friends. Her wisdom, sense of humor and no-nonsense personality will leave an everlasting imprint in the hearts of those who knew her.
Her legacy will continue to live on through her children Michael Monroe II, Monique Monroe, and Tieja Morgan, her grandchildren Sonsharay Monroe, Malaya Monroe, Martell Monroe, Jayce Banks, and Samaria Owens and her great-grandchildren Kilyn Lewis Jr, Tamarrie Wilson and Saharrie Wilson.
