In the words of Maya Angelou, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." This perfectly describes the zest for life that Shaniece Owens, affectionately known as Pooh Bear, embodied. Born on the 29th of November, 1988, in Denver, Colorado, Shaniece was a spark of joy, a beacon of laughter, and an embodiment of love who colored every moment with her vibrant spirit until her untimely departure on December 27, 2025.
Shaniece was a woman of many passions - a lover of music, a dancer at heart, and a comedian in her own right. She had an infectious laughter that could light up even the darkest of rooms. She loved being with her family, celebrating life's milestones, and just simply 'being'. She was known for her radiant smile and her ability to make others laugh. She took great pleasure in her self-care rituals, always ensuring her hair and nails were immaculately styled. As Shaniece would often say, quoting Oscar Wilde, "To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance."
Shaniece is survived by a loving and extensive family who will cherish her memory dearly. Her children, Vonti, Ava, Aspen, and mother Darnetta Bradshaw(Carlos Mack ); her father, Reginald Owens, and step-mother, Shelanda Owens; her sisters, Shanae Samuels, Regina Owens, Shantell Owens, Reshonda Mack, Reanna Mack, Sharon Bradshaw, ReShaunda Owens, Dominique Robert's and Jamie Wheelock; her brothers, Reggie Owens, Reginald Jr., Elijah Owens, Isaiah Owens, Daveon Roseberry, and Quinzell Owens.
She is preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Mammie and John McClure, Marlene Owens, and her aunt Dana Chapman.T.
In the spirit of Shaniece's love for life and laughter, we encourage you to share your favorite memories and photos of Shaniece on her memorial page. Let's remember her not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the time we had with her and for the joy she brought into our lives.
