Saundra Jackson-Robinson, known fondly as Sandra, Peanut to her sister Tonya, and as one of the most compassionate, funny, resilient, and loving souls, closed her eyes to rest on July 29, 2023 in Aurora, Colorado. Born on March 30, 1950, in Omaha, Nebraska Saundra's life was a vibrant tapestry of joyous moments and incredible accomplishments. She was the epitome of resilience and strength, graced with a heart that radiated love and laughter, and she filled her life with an abundance of passion for those she cared for and the things she cherished.
Saundra's journey in life was remarkable and inspiring. Her academic pursuit led her to Denver Public Schools, graduating from Annunciation Catholic School, and later achieving certificates in Diesel Automotive from Red Rocks Community College as well as Cosmetology. But her true calling was in the simple pleasures of life: walking her beloved dogs, dancing with the rhythm of joy, watching the Broncos, and bestowing her love and affection onto her grandchildren. As a former Go Go dancer, Saundra could captivate any audience with her moves, and she was always the best dressed in any gathering. Her favorite phrase, "You Made That Up," was often met with laughter and affection, a testament to her delightful sense of humor.
Saundra leaves behind a rich legacy of love and resilience. Her children, Antwaunett Collins and Alanthia Robinson-Jones , grandchildren, Najahraihn, Dai'Vante, Tre'Jhaun, Makavia, Eloni, Arrion, Turohn, Sayon, Seana, Mika, Jordan, and great-grandchild, Mai'Leah, all carry a part of her spirit within them. Her sister Tonya and aunt Beverly will always remember their shared moments of laughter and sisterly love. She also leaves a host of cousins, family and friends. Saundra joins her mother, Alberta Shields, her son, Troy Jackson, and her sister, Sharon Kay in the realm beyond.
As we remember Saundra, let us honor her memory in the same way she lived her life – with love, laughter, and resilience. Let the words of Maya Angelou remind us of Saundra's life: "I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." Saundra was never reduced by her life's challenges; instead, she rose, resilient and loving, spreading joy and warmth wherever she went.
Let's remember Saundra not just for the life she led but for the lives she touched and the love she shared.
