Ronald Eugene Miller

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ronald Eugene Miller, affectionately known as "Ronnie" Miller, Stone Man, and Papa Johnson, on July 27, 2026. Born on January 19, 1943, in Rockford, IL, Ronald was a dedicated, loving, and supportive soul, whose light touched many lives. He was a remarkable blend of strength and gentleness, wisdom and humor, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.

Ronald's journey was marked by a rich tapestry of experiences. A talented consultant and craftsman, he brought an unparalleled dedication to his work in the Information Tech industry and as a carpenter. Ronald's love for life was palpable in his hobbies. An avid fisherman, he found joy on a boat or by the creek, chasing bass or trout. He was a lover of Camaros, owning two beauties in his lifetime. His passion for music was infectious, and he generously shared this love with his stepson, Don, igniting a spark that would lead Don to become a professional musician. Ronald himself went on the road with the band, Touched, selling T-shirts and merchandise and creating unforgettable memories.

In his later years, Ronald discovered a profound connection with Lakota spirituality, a journey that helped him heal from his Vietnam PTSD. He was deeply immersed in sweat ceremonies and Sundance, earning the name "Stone Man" from a medicine man. This spiritual journey inspired him to compose over 200 sonnets, describing his healing journey and deep connection with Lakota spirituality. His spirituality and strength were as enduring as a stone, and his heart was as vast as the open sky. Ronald's life journey took him from Rockford, IL, to Burnsville, MN, Rapid City, SD, and finally to Arvada, Colorado. Each place he lived, including his cherished "Buffalo Lodge" in Custer, was filled with the warmth of his vibrant spirit.

Ronald is survived by his son, Don Damond and his Nephew Jeff Miller. He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Miller, and mother, Ruth Roland. As we mourn the loss of our beloved Ronald, we also celebrate his life, cherishing the moments we shared and the love he bestowed upon us.
