It is with both sadness and joy that we remember the life of Norvis Moore, known affectionately to many as NoMo. Born on August 27, 1954, in Hampton, Arkansas, Norvis was a generous soul, known for his resilience, intellect, and reliability. He lived a full, vibrant life until his departure on August 12, 2026. His absence leaves a void, yet his memory inspires us to emulate his virtues.
Norvis was a man of many talents and interests, but his heart always belonged to his family, whom he cherished and strived to provide for. At the tender age of 19, he followed his brother AJ to Denver, Colorado, where he began working at the old Stapleton airport. It was here that he met Joyce Washington in 1983, and their union blessed them with a daughter, ShaVon E. Moore. Despite their eventual divorce, Norvis remained a devoted father. In his later years, Norvis found joy in watching sports with his friends and visiting the dog track. He was a smart man who notably accomplished a distinguished career as a truck driver for Denver Lumber.
A resilient believer, Norvis attended church faithfully while in Arkansas. His Baptist faith was a pillar in his life, and he lived by the verse, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). Norvis was indeed a model of these words, demonstrating courage and faith throughout his life.
Norvis's legacy lives on through his daughter, ShaVon E. Moore; his nieces, Rhonda, Yolanda (Princess), and Carlena Moore; his grandchildren, Za’Vontae R. Moore, Jaedrian and Jazoni Johnson; his stepchildren, Mary Washington and KeDrick Washington; his brothers, Robert and Enoch (Chuck) Moore Jr.; and his nephews, Bernard and Earnest (Valentine) Moore, and Cedric McElroy. He was preceded in death by his father, Enoch Moore; his mother, Roxie Moore; his brother, AJ Moore; and his ex-wife, Joyce Washington (Moore).
