Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Neal O'Dell Jones Jr., who departed this life on March 1, 2026, and entered eternal rest with the Lord.

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die" (Ecclesiastes 3:1–2). In this season of sorrow, we gather to honor and celebrate a life filled with love, strength, and purpose.

Neal O'Dell Jones Jr. was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, role model, and more, whose presence brought comfort, joy, laughter, and unity to all who knew him. Neal's love was more than words—it was something you could see, feel, and hold onto. Through his toughness, kindness, love, and wisdom, many lives were touched. The love he shared lives on as a lasting reflection of who he was.

Neal O'Dell Jones Jr. was born on September 19, 1978, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to his parents, Neal O'Dell Jones Sr. and Karen Michelle Jones. As their firstborn, he was the center of their joy—the laughter in their smiles and the warmth in their love. As a child, Neal was handsome, playful, active, humorous, and full of life. He loved to eat, play sports, go on adventures, travel, spend time with his childhood friends, attend church, play with his cousins, and enjoy time with his siblings.

Growing up, Neal attended Park Hill Elementary, Smiley Middle School, East High School, and Emily Griffith. While in school, he enjoyed academics such as math, reading, science, and music, as well as participating in sports like track and football. He later earned his diploma from Emily Griffith 2nd Chance High School.

In his teenage years, Neal loved to travel, play sports, and spend time with his siblings and friends: Tony Neal Jr., Sasha, James, Brian Johnson, Walter "Big Tre" Reeves, Brian Hester, Ira Bird, Sam Todd, Leatresiahia Clift, Rhonda Zackery, Janee Moore, Winter Hicks, and Danielle Ray. Together, they listened to music, played games, explored the city of Denver, and created countless memories filled with joy and laughter.

Neal possessed a truly remarkable personality—humorous, open-minded, and candid, often expressing himself with a touch of sarcasm. He was highly intelligent, well-educated, and carried himself with confidence and composure, rarely shaken by challenges. A man of strong character and firm principles, Neal upheld the values instilled in him by his parents from a young age. He was never afraid to speak the truth, even when it was difficult to hear, always guided by his deep sense of integrity. Above all, he was honest, respectful, and a devoted man of God.

By profession, Neal was a man of many trades—hardworking, dedicated, and dependable. He brought laughter wherever he went, known for his sharp wit and humor that reminded others to appreciate the lighter side of life. Neal was highly respected by his coworkers and supervisors, not only for his strong work ethic but also for the positive energy he shared with those around him.

Neal was known for his adventurous spirit, love of travel, and outgoing nature. He was unapologetically himself, embracing life with confidence and enthusiasm. In his free time, he enjoyed trying new foods, barbecuing, cooking, playing games, traveling, water rafting, attending festivals, gardening, and listening to music. Above all, he cherished spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, creating lasting family memories.

A man of deep faith, Neal believed strongly in the Lord and was a devoted member of The House of Joy Miracle Deliverance Church in Denver, Colorado, having joined in September 1986. He was also an active participant in the God's Side Youth Group, where he broadened his horizons through charitable work, faithfully serving his community and contributing to outreach efforts around the world.

Neal O'Dell Jones Jr. was a proud and devoted father to his three beloved children: his firstborn, Amarie Jones Clift; his second daughter, Ahrianna Jones Clift; and his youngest, Isaiah Samire Zackery. He loved his children deeply and unconditionally, while also instilling in them strength, resilience, and character—leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on their lives.

He was also blessed with loving family members, including his nieces Alishaun, Ta'Lahja, and Katalina; his nephews Trevian and Jerzell; and his cherished grandchildren, Ze'ila and Nyanii, with one more on the way.

Neal leaves behind a host of cousins, extended relatives, and many dear friends who will continue to honor his memory. His life was a beautiful example of living fully and authentically. His legacy of love, perseverance, warmth, kindness, and humor will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
