Obituary

Marcile Alexander born December 22, 1935 in Marquez Texas – to Aubrey & Rosalie Alexander. When Marcile was 1 year old they moved to Dallas and attended Page Temple COGIC until they relocated to Denver, CO in December 1939. Marcile was 4 years old when the family joined Holy Trinity COGIC also known as Court Place under the leadership of the late Bishop Morgan.  Marcile gave her life to the Lord at age 11 and started to sing. She was musically gifted, and began to play the piano under the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Marcile became the state choir director and pianist at age 15 for two years.  During her young age she sang and played and taught many choirs: Hackett Ensemble, Holy Trinity, the Friendly COGIC Bishop Charles Williams (Anchorage Alaska 3 years), Beechum Singers and House of Joy Apostle Beechum, Prince of Peace Pastor Coburn's (20 years), and True Faith COGIC choir. Marcile played and sang under the anointing of the Holy Ghost for 66 years, and was even given the opportunity to sign a recording contract with Savoy records in Anchorage, Alaska.  Marcile declined this opportunity because of her love for her five children, although It did not stop her from continuing to praise, sing and teach music to vocal and piano students.

Marcile, affectionately known as (Cookie) worked and retired from Jefferson County School District after 25 years of working as the Head Custodian.  She was truly loved and known as a diligent, hard, and incredible worker. Marcile had a green thumb and was known as "The Plant Doctor", she loved to plant and garden. Her love for animals was evident as she cared for Dogs, Birds, Fish and others. An incredible cook, her Thanksgiving and Christmas meals were legendary. Cookie was also known for her mouth watering Red Velvet Cake, Peach Cobbler and Apple Pie. Marcile loved to dress in beautiful name brand clothes, shoes, and hats.

Mother Willa Ward was her friend from childhood and they all played together many years ago.  Mother Minnie Collins, 1st Lady Selena Coburn, Sis. Emma Marshall, Missionary Irene Washington, Sis. Shirley Bean, Mother Sugar Norman and the Norman Family, Sis. Betty Ransom, Sis. Shirley Brown, Mother Mary Heinz, Sis. Matti Cleckey and Sis Patilla Robinson just to name a few.

Marcile was married to Elder John Pernell for 52 years, John would tell the story he was captivated by her beauty. Elder John was a tremendous blessing to Marcile. John adopted three of her children and helped raise all five of the children. Marcile's impact was tremendously experienced and felt by many who she touched over the years.

Marcile became sick in her latter years but never stopped impacting the lives of others even during her season of sickness.  Her faithful caregivers would always talk about how they enjoyed being with her, loving to take care of her because she is always so sweet and beautiful.  Marcile is a survivor of domestic violence as a young woman before she was married to the love of her life John Pernell.  She never allowed any situation to stop her for being who God called her to be and she influenced many young women by sharing her story and allowing her daughter to tell the testimony of healing and deliverance in their lives.
