Obituary

Ruby Jo "Mother Ruby" Lockett was born March 20, 1934 to the late Verda Smith in Commerce, Texas. She is the eldest of 8 children. Mother Ruby worked hard to provide for her 5 children;  Noe (Glen), Danielette (Bubba), Randy, Renee, and Gary. She also raised her wonderful grandchildren Corwin, Keynai, DeChantae, Quasia.

Mother Ruby had many hobbies. She received her degree in culinary arts and owned a cosmetology license. She retired from the Denver Athletic Club, where she won many awards for her excellent service. By using those same skills, she brought others together. Many of her church family can attest she set the bar pretty high for snacks with those three year olds. You could always find her up at 6am doing her prayers and stretching for her daily walk thereafter. On Sundays, after church, you could always find her cheering in the kitchen, as touch downs were made. She absolutely loved sports, her favorites were football and softball. Like most Texans, her favorite team was the Cowboys.

Mother Ruby was adored by everyone. From her family, the Church, DAC, Happy Days Daycare, Aurora Centaurs football, many of the teachers across Aurora and many more!

Our grandmother Ms. Ruby was loved by so many. She always knew how to brighten someone's day and make them feel loved. She treated everyone with kindness and respect. Her outlook on life was inspiring. She would always say "God gave us two hands for a reason. Don't go out taking and stealing from no one." If you were lucky to spend more than five minutes in her presence, you were forever changed. We are so grateful to have had a grandmother whose love is everlasting.

Poem
Red Ruby by her daughter Renee

Your like a Red Ruby
A Ruby most didn't have
You were the jewel that held the family together
You are the stone that could never be replaced
You will forever be missed
