Obituary

Armelia Williams was born on November 3, 1924, in Jacksonville, Florida, to her loving parents, Leroy Williams and Olivia Wych. As a child, she was a faithful member of the Church of God. She attended school in Jacksonville Florida. Before leaving Florida, she gave birth to her only son, Johnnie Lee Williams, whom she adored with all of her heart.

Later in life, she moved to Colorado where she became an established member of the Church of God in Christ. During this time, she met the love of her life, Deacon David Durst, Jr. On May 31, 1966, they tied their vows in holy matrimony and the two of them remained in a happy union until she took her very last breath upon this Earth. During this time, the two of them were no strangers to travel. In that little green and white R/V of theirs, they went all around the United States of America and collected many souvenirs to commemorate their trips and their life together.

Armelia Durst was loved and cherished by a multitude of loved ones, family, and friends. As a Pianist, she would pass on the love of music to her grandson, Adam J. Harmon, and to his children (her great-grandchildren), Sir Adam Moore-Harmon and Isis Moore-Harmon. Armelia held a special bond with everyone who had the opportunity to get to know her, but more so, especially with her grandchildren whom she truly loved and adored. She kept a warm and loving place in her heart for them.

During her lifetime, Mother Durst stood as a living testimony to all the great and historical moments that made this country great from the first electric refrigeration system produced by General Electrics (GE) in 1927. The first television broadcast, the stock market crash that led to the great depression, the smallpox outbreak, the first-ever test of a nuclear thermal device, the start and end of World War ll, America's first black baseball player (Jackie Robinson), the very first color television, the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 that led to the end of segregation, Muhammed Ali, the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr., Watergate, the start and end of the Vietnam conflict, the first man on the moon, the invention of the computer, the fall of the Berlin wall, and America's first black President Barack Obama. She saw all of these amazing events being born less than 40 years after the Abolishment of slavery, but through it all, she maintained a humble and blessed life that we will all be so fortunate to live.

On the 12th day of January 2023, Mother Armelia Durst was called home to be with her Father in his house of many rooms and to be reunited with her husband, son, and all of her family who was called home to glory before her. She is survived by her grandson, Adam J. Harmon, and great-grandchildren, Sir Adam Moore-Harmon, Isis Moore-Harmon, and a long list of family and friends who will always remember and cherish the memory of Mother Armelia Durst.
