Carrie Dee Davis, born on April 24, 1932, in Forney, TX, was called home to the Lord on October 25, 2023. Carrie, also affectionately known as Betty, was a beacon of love and faith in her community, serving as a Church Mother at Divine Love Church of God in Christ. Her life was a testament to the verse, "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue" (Proverbs 31:26). She dedicated her life to her family and her faith, displaying a funny and loving nature that brought joy to all who knew her.
Married on August 24, 1950, Carrie and her beloved husband James Davis created a beautiful life together in Denver, Colorado. Carrie's life was filled with the sweet melodies of her favorite song "For the Love of You" by The Isley Brothers, and the joy she found in simple pleasures such as reading the local newspaper and knitting. She had a knack for creating homemade popsicles that her grandchildren delighted in, and her home was always filled with the comforting aroma of her cooking. Her vibrant spirit lives on through her 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-great grandchildren. Her family will remember her for her cherished sayings, one of the most notable being "You tore your best draws with me!"
Carrie is survived by her loving husband, James Davis, her children Dorothy Willis, Evangelist Diane Davis-Patton, Virgil Davis, James Davis Jr. and Quincy Davis, their spouses Frederick Patton, Denise Davis, Nikki Davis, and Charla Davis. She is preceded in death by her parents Daisy and Walter McKizzie and her siblings Mackie, Ananias, Frances, Cordell, Walter Jr., Doris, and Robert.
