Mary Ann Brigham was born on August 20, 1944, in Alama, Texas to Elmira Evans and LD Birdow Sr. She was the fifth child born in the family. Her sisters Dimple, Bobbie, and Clara, along with her brother LD Jr. She was also blessed with additional siblings from her father: Walter, Robert, Rodriguez, John, Manual, Douglas, El Rico, Darrell Lynn, Cynthia, Diane, and Georgia.
As a child she played with her siblings, and would treat her nephew Ray Charles to piggy back rides, often in exchange for half a jack cookie from her brother LD Jr.!
On June 6, 1960 she married William Justice Maxey in Lubbock, Texas and in this union Michael and Regina were born. This marriage was later dissolved.
She later married Tommy Griffie in Denver, Colorado. This marriage was later dissolved. She later married Cleyzell Brigham in Denver, Colorado. This marriage was later dissolved.
Mary Ann was very active in her children's activities in their youth. She loved gatherings with her family and being with her sisters Bobbie and Clara. She loved music and was always dancing! She relished spending time with her best friends Maragret Harris, Joan Holden, Liz Roberts and Phyllis French. Mary Ann really enjoyed going to church, praising God and teaching Sunday school. She was on the women's committee, helped sell tickets for Church events and assisted Dean Brooks in selling calendars every year. Mary Ann worked for Denver Public School for 36 years where she retired as a Bus Driver.
Mary Ann was the proud grandmother to Michaelia, Michael Jr., Portia, Nichelle, William, Myiosha, and T'Gan (Molly), they called her grandma, or granny.
Mary Ann gained her heavenly wings on December 8, 2024 at Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memories her son Michael Maxey Sr. and her daughter Regina Maxey, her sisters Bobbie Taylor, Clara (Isiah) McWell, her brothers LD Birdow Jr., Walter, Robert, Rodriguez, John, Manual, Douglas, El Rico, Darrell Lynn, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents Elmira Burr and LD Birdow Sr., her step-father Leo Burr, her sisters Dimple Birdow, Diane Wade, Georgia Mathis and Cynthia Lewis, nephews Darrell Johnson, and LD Birdow III, nieces Sharon Blackwell and Dahaney Gipson-Hatchett.
