Obituary

Sylvester Bobo was born on September 19, 1948, in Elaine, Arkansas, to the late Leroy and Sarah Jackson Bobo. He received his early education at the Elaine Industrial School and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1966. He continued his studies at the University of Arkansas (formerly AM&N College) and Kennedy-King College in Chicago, Illinois. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska in Omaha where he received his Bachelor's Degree.

He accepted Christ at a young age at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. On December 15, 1973, he married Alice Johnson, and together they were blessed with one daughter, Kesha Q.

Sylvester faithfully served in the United States Army, including a tour in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1977. He later began a long and dedicated career with the Chicago and Northwestern Transportation Company, following its acquisition became Union Pacific. His work ethic earned him great respect, and his career eventually led him to Denver, Colorado, where he retired in 2009.

Sylvester enjoyed softball and was inducted into the Chicago 16-Inch Softball Hall of Fame. He loved family gatherings, grilling, and playing golf. Called to ministry at a young age, he fully embraced his calling in Colorado and was licensed and ordained on May 18, 2019. He served faithfully at Second Baptist Church in various roles, including Executive Pastor, Associate Minister, Trustee, and Sunday School Director.

Sylvester transitioned peacefully on November 10, 2025, at his home in Brighton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Sarah Bobo; his sister, Dorothy Bobo-Hamer; and brothers Charles Dunlap, SGT. Edward L. Bobo, Leroy Bobo Jr., State Trooper L.T. Bobo, and Ray A. Bobo.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Alice; his daughter, Kesha; his brothers James Jackson, Michael E. Bobo Sr., Derome C. Bobo Sr. (Brenda), Dennis D. Bobo Sr. (Patrice), Ricky K.
