Melanie Candace Lemons, born in Buffalo, New York, on February 1, 1947, and most recently residing in Denver, Colorado, left us on November 29, 2025. Melanie was a force of nature; full of life, love, and boundless energy. She was known for her generosity, intelligence, and courage. Her infectious laughter and joy for life could light up any room. As Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." And Melanie made everyone around her feel loved and cherished.

Melanie, a dedicated state employee, moved to Los Angeles at the age of 12 where she resided until 2020. Her work was important to her, but what mattered most to Melanie was her family, especially her grandson, Arden. She relished the role of grandmother, filling it with the same passion and dedication she brought to every aspect of her life. Melanie was also an avid lover of sewing, baking, singing, and dancing, hobbies that brought her immense joy and satisfaction. She often said, "The only way to do great work is "to use the power of your voice," a quote from Michelle Obama. This is how she exemplified in every endeavor she undertook.

Melanie is survived by her daughter, Candace Walker, her son-in-law, Arthur Walker, her grandson, Arden Walker, and her sister, Michelle Bates and Brother in Law William Bates. and her Sister Sandra Moss and Brother In Law Robert Moss. She was preceded in death by her family member, Vanless Byrd, and her mother, Irma Flint. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and an undeniable zest for life. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
