Obituary

Lydia Lynn Gallegos Blanckaert, known affectionately as "Nama" to her beloved grandchildren, was a remarkable woman whose life was marked by an unyielding sense of empathy and a generous heart. Born in Amarillo, TX on the 12th of October, 1959, she went on to touch countless lives with her loving spirit and compassionate demeanor. She spent the majority of her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role that allowed her to channel her innate ability to care for others into meaningful, life-changing work. Lydia was a beacon of light and warmth in the healthcare industry, dedicating over 30 years to the field. Her work as a physical therapist allowed her to help individuals with disabilities, a role she cherished deeply. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like playing puzzle games on her cellphone, decorating her home, and making beautiful flower arrangements. Volunteering to do hair and nails for her residents, Lydia was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her love for caring extended to her home, where she was known to take in stray pets and dote on her grandchildren. A true testament to her faith as a devoted Jehovah's Witness, Lydia embodied the verse, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works." (Matthew 5:16) Lydia was a precious gem in her family, survived by her children; Tina Swan, Dennis (Elizabeth) Swan, and Michael Swan; grandchildren, Dominic Swan, Ayana Lopez, Michael Jr., and Destiny Swan; great-grandchildren, Eli, Bella, Rosie, and Miklo. She also leaves behind her siblings; Linda Gallegos, Louis Jr., Virginia Martinez, Bertha Garcia, Donna Gallegos, Albert Gallegos, and Angela Cook. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Sr. and Mary Gallegos; her husband, Larry Blanckaert; and her brothers, Tom and Anthony Gallegos. Lydia's legacy of love, generosity, and compassion will live on through the lives she touched and the memories she created. As we remember her, we are reminded of her wise teachings about life and the example she set through her responsible and open demeanor. We invite you to leave your cherished memories of Lydia and upload photos in tribute to her on the memorial page. Her life was a testament to the power of love and kindness, and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
