Lumumba Nantamba-Muhammed Sayers, Jr. was born on September 3, 1999, to the parents of Lumumba Sayers, Sr and Lakeisha Smith. Mr. Sayers was born in Denver Colorado where he attended Manual High School and graduated with Honors in the class of 2017. Mr. Sayers became known for his athletic ability and flamboyant personality, Sparking His Love for Mixed Martial Arts and Music.
Mr. Sayers accepted Christ at an early age. As a kid he attended Anchor of Hope and was baptized by Pastor Victor "VJ" Nellum. At the age of 10, he attended Unity Church Of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Lamar Kennedy where he was active in the sunshine band, youth choir, and purity class. He recently returned back to Anchor of Hope with his father, witnessing his sibling's baptism and preparing to be active in leadership. Lumumba was known for his big heart, smile, music, dancing, mixed martial arts, and moving skills.
In High School he was known by "LB" the man, starting as a key football player as a running back and middle linebacker. After High School, he furthered his education at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona receiving college credits.
A Bond Unbreakable, he was a man that followed the footsteps and guidance of his dad in all avenues of life. At the age of 5, he shadowed his father in mixed martial arts. Through attending practices and supporting Lumumba Sayers, Sr at his fights, he began to embark upon the journey as a fighter himself and debuted his talent in July 2020 with a TKO.
Since the age of 10, he worked alongside his dad with Sayers Citywide Movers, recruiting other young people to work with him. Through this family business, he helped young men make money, learn how to run their own business, and share his father so they could have the same guidance as he had. During his young adulthood, he began to be involved in his dad's organization Heavy Hands Heavy Hearts Foundation and co-founded the Glovez Up Gunz Down, Get Ya Headz Up In the Hood, youth violence prevention movement.
A man who cherished family and friends, he loved all his siblings. His big brother Kanique kept him into mischievous stuff and was super protective. They would do anything for each other. His sister Hawaii, made sure he was up on the latest dances, making numerous dance videos with him. Their bond has always been like two peas in a pod. They would argue one minute and be best friends the next. His brother Jamahl kept the conversations going about life advice when he was overwhelmed, often referring to him as "My Big Brother". He loved making dance videos with him as well. Mr. Sayers was a person to check on his sister Italy, making sure she had a good day and making up rap songs. When it came to Germany, he turned into a gamer. This was the way they vibed together sharing in many laughs and hugs. He made sure to tell him He was perfect to him in every way.
Other important people in his life was his Bonus mom Yvette Sayers sharing in songs, dances, and conversations. He often called for recipes and advice. He enjoyed Sunday dinners and spending the night out on the town with his mom LaKeisha Smith.
As a new father, he enjoyed every moment with his son Dmari. When he found out he was going to be a father, he already knew he was going to have a son and prepared for the journey. He loved holding his son, talking to him, and showcasing the same love to him as his father did. He use to say. I'm going to be a great father just like his dad is.
The bond with his dad was Unbreakable. One minute they would be mad at each other and the next they couldn't stop calling each other. They never did anything without one another. Like Father, Like Son They talked, worked, and trained together daily. Let the jokes begin. Lumumba Jr would always remind his dad daily who looked better by saying, "You are not finer than me, you just think you are. I am the new and improved version of you, which would cause his dad to call others to confirm who looked better. In response, everyone would say, "Yall have the same face making this an unsolved mystery to this day. At the age of 14, Lumumba couldn't wait for his dad to come home to put the gloves on. This is a daily tradition leading up to his mixed martial arts career.
His cousins were more like his brothers and sisters. His favorite line to all his cousins was, "Yall can't whoop me though" I'll beat all my cousins up. They all stuck together through it all, and with their favorite phrase S G (Sayer's Gang).
He had a special bond with all of his uncles (Uncle boo boo (Alfred, Jr), Uncle Tamboura, Uncle Shabasa, Uncle Kinshasa, Uncle Peter). He loved his Aunties (Aunt Edda, Aunt Nessa, Aunt Gina, Aunt Shockie, Aunt Elena, Aunt Toya).
He was his His Papa, Alfred Sayers "Baby Boy". They would fight every day in a good way. Singing is the way they bonded. He always called his Papa to tell on his dad. He knew he would be safe.
Everyone knew he was his Grandma Eddie Ruth Sayers favorite. She helped take care of him as a kid and as of this day, she still tried to do any and everything for him.
