Obituary

Lola Denise Morris, age 67, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on the morning of December 29, 2025, in Denver, Colorado.

Born in Denver, Colorado, on October 9, 1958, Lola was the beloved daughter of Daisy Mae (Carolina) McDonaldand Clyde McDonald Sr. Lola carried Indigenous roots through both sides of her family, and through her mother's documented lineage, she honored heritage connected to the Creek (Muskogee) and Chickasaw peoples, with maternal family roots carried primarily through Oklahoma.

She graduated from George Washington High School in 1976. Lola met Vernon Lee Morris in the 7th grade, and what began as a youthful friendship grew into a lifelong bond. They were married on June 11, 1983, and together built a beautiful life raising five sons.

One of Lola's cherished gifts was her love of Psalms and song. When a melody would rise in her spirit, sometimes inspired by a song she heard in her heart, she would spontaneously sing it aloud, touching the hearts of many around her. Lola loved to laugh, read, travel, dance, and sing, and she treasured making memories with her family. She was a deeply beloved Grandmother and Great Grandmother, and she truly enjoyed being surrounded by her descendants.

Lola had a gift for lighting up any room. Her laughter, smile, and joyful spirit made people feel instantly at ease. Her coworkers fondly remember her faith, kindness, and how she would often break into song or a little dance, turning the workplace into a place of joy. Early Sunday mornings were filled with her voice singing, "Rise and shine, Praise the Lord," setting the tone for a day filled with praise. Whether serving in church, helping others, or loving her family, Lola lived with her whole heart.

Lola built a steady and meaningful career as a Clerical Administrator with the Colorado 18th Judicial District Probation Department, where she served with professionalism, diligence, and care for over 20 years, spreading light and joy to whomever she came into contact with.

Beyond her professional life, Lola's deepest devotion was to her faith and her community. She served for many years as a minister and elder at Now Faith Christian Center Church, under the leadership of Pastors Leon and Yvonne Emerson, faithfully pouring into the lives of others, especially through her dedicated service in the Children's Ministry. She also spent years committed to Prison Ministry, carrying messages of hope, compassion, and restoration to those too often overlooked and forgotten. One of her most joyful and memorable moments was portraying her beloved "Honey Child" role for the children during annual holiday events, a tradition that brought laughter, warmth, and lasting memories to so many families. Lola's heart for healing extended beyond the church walls as well. She became a founding member of the non profit Families Against Violent Acts (F.A.V.A.), alongside her close friend and ministry sister, Sis. Dianne Cooks, and fellow founding women Sharletta Evans, Sherri Landrum, Venita Johnson Meyers, and Diane Harrell, standing for peace, protection, and stronger families in the community.

Lola is survived by her children: Kevin Lee; Adrian Dwayne; Quincy Dural; Shawn Dominique; and Isaiah Rashad Morris.

She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Jean, Samuel, and Daun, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, daughters in law, extended family members, and cherished friends.

Grandchildren: Gina Dejanae Lofton; Kamani Lee; Kayla Tristan; Korahn Aquir; Adrian D'Avion; Amari Brooks; Alijah Dwayne; Ajaneé Leneé; Samiyah Jhanae; Kymorah Simone; Aryanah Nicole; and Kyrie Tyrell King Morris.

Great grandchildren: Nova Aniyah; Isaiah Leonidas; Isaac Kyree; and Elijah Aquir Morris.

Lola was preceded in death by her father, Clyde McDonald Sr., and her brother, Clyde McDonald Jr.
