With a spirit as bright and boundless as the sky, Linda Swindall shared her light with the world on April 2, 1954, in Chicago, IL. Born to Booker Swindall Jr. and Luvenia Benson, Linda's journey began in Chicago, but she found her true home in the hearts of those she loved. Linda was a woman of immeasurable courage and wit. Her adventurous soul led her to a life richly woven with love and laughter.
Her sharp intellect and passion for knowledge led her to excel academically, a fact echoed by her consistent presence on the Honor Roll throughout her school years and her notable achievement of being selected to speak on a panel with Professor Robert Green at Michigan State University. Her professional life was marked by her unwavering dedication as a phone operator with Quest, where she served as a beacon of calm and reassurance for countless individuals.
Linda's true joy, however, was found in her family. A loyal and loving mother to her daughters, Latesha, Liandrea, and Raeshaun, as well as her stepson Rick James Jr. Linda radiated a warmth and love that was truly unparalleled. Her relationship with Larry Owens and Rick James Sr. brought her much joy, as did her bond with her much-adored grandchildren Shawn Jr., LaDavion, Lionna, Trinity, Maur'tae, Maur'jon, Teniya, Blesyn, and Brian. Linda also found solace and laughter in her friendship with Emma Swinton-Ray and Sheila Celestine.
She made her final journey on June 20, 2024, leaving the world a little darker, yet infinitely richer for her time in it. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Swindall, and stepfather, James Johnson.
Leaving to share her memory of love, and laughter are her daughters, Latesha Swindall, Liandrea Swindall, and Raeshaun James, her parents Booker T. Swindall Jr., Luvenia Benson, and stepfather Emmett Benson, her 9 grandchildren Shawn Baker Jr., LaDavion West, Lionna Marshall, Trinity Lightner, Maur'Tae Cole, Maur'Jon Cole, Teniya Kelly, Blesyn Robles, and Brian Robles II, her goddaughters Tanichika Williams and Jontae Palmore, cousins Yolanda Hardy, Jeanice Hammond, Loretta Brown, Charles Swindall, Antionette Lewis- Lynch, and Regina Brown- Ross as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Linda, with her infectious laughter, timeless wisdom, and loving spirit will certainly be missed.
