Landy McNulty Sr., affectionately known as "Pete," age 89, passed away peacefully at his home, in Denver Colorado, on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
He was born on February 9, 1935, in Brookhaven Mississippi, to the late Stanley and Ethel McNulty. Landy was the third oldest of five siblings. In addition to his parents, Landy was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; brother, Cleveland McNulty; sister, Bertha McNulty; stepdaughter, Sharon Threats; son, Perry McNulty; and grandson, Darnell McNulty.
Landy received his formal education in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He met Dorothy Jean Peay in the early 1950s. Their union was blessed with four children, in addition to Dorothy's daughter, Sharon Threats. Landy moved his family to Denver, Colorado, in the mid 1960s, in hopes of securing a better life for them.
Landy later married Jeanette Richardson, in 1980, and became a step-father to her three children, Alissa McKissick, Andrew Butler, and Allen Butler. Landy and Jeannette worshiped and served at Soul Care Full Gospel Center, where he was a Deacon and she was an Evangelist.
Though he retired a couple times, he was never satisfied with sitting still. His final retirement was from the University Hospital, located in Denver Colorado. Landy was known for having a strong work ethic. He was always dedicated to getting the job done and went above and beyond to do so.
Landy had many exceptional talents. These talents included cooking, playing the guitar, harmonica, and singing. Unbeknownst to many, Landy had a voice that brought joy to those who heard him sing.
A huge football enthusiast, Landy was a passionate and unwavering fan of the Denver Broncos. He loved watching them play each week, of their football season.
Landy was an avid billiards player, and loved playing at a number of establishments. He and his son, Landy Jr., shared the same passion for the sport, and both participated in numerous pool tournaments together. If asked about his most memorable pool playing experience, Landy would venture to say that he was most-happiest when playing pool with his son.
Prior to the covid outbreak in 2020, Landy loved spending time at his favorite establishment, the Horizon Lounge, where he played pool and hung out with friends.
A perfect day for Landy included playing pool, reading the paper, watching or listening to sports, and eating a burrito, purchased from his favorite spot, Lucero's.
Landy's legacy lives on through his children, Landy (Portia) McNulty Jr., Denver, CO, Terri (Jesse) McCallister Houston, TX, and Marinda Kincaid, Denver, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shante McNulty, Denver, CO, Kaelyn Wynn, Dallas TX., Jasmine Kincaid, Austin, TX., LaShay McNulty, (Adrian Hudson), Georgetown, TX., and Jessica Kincaid, Manhattan, NY.; great grandchildren, Taeshawna Collins, Denver, CO, Kennedy Carter, Dallas, TX., Aiden Hudson, Georgetown, TX.; his sisters, Evelyn McNulty, Denver CO, Bessie Brothern, Brookhaven, MS., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
Landy lived a rich and fulfilled life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched.
