Karen Michelle Jones was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world gracefully on March 22, 2024, at the age of 66.
Karen was born to Calvin and Ernestine Edwards on April 23, 1958, and was the oldest of 5 siblings. As a child she kept her focus in school and the bible, and she remained current in her studies. As a young adult she sang in the church choir. Also because of the era she was a proponent of the Black Panther Party regarding civil liberties and civil rights.
After graduating from high school, she attended Laramie County Community College, where she studied journalism, philosophy, and became involved in the VA administration. In the process of chasing her dreams, she met her husband, Neal Jones.
On November 7, 1976, Neal and Karen became a union at the Holy Temple Church of God in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Together they had two children, Neal Jr and Keyana Jones. They also adopted her brother's son Deshawn Edwards. Karen met her husband Neal at the CFE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne Wyoming.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her family in the kitchen, "the meeting place". She enjoyed preparing delicious meals not only for the family, but the neighborhood kids as well. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cross stitch. Karen worked on the church bulletin and served with the youth department. She also enjoyed playing the piano for her family and friends. Most weekends were spent as a volunteer at church and home. She enjoyed her peace with her family.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband Neal O. Jones Sr., her parents Calvin and Ernestine Edwards, her sister Deborah Meeks, her brother Ronnie Brackett, her grandmother Sallie "Nanny" Bowman and great uncle Audrey "AB" Bowman.
On March 22, 2024 Karen ascended into heaven from St. Joseph Hospital @ 11:15 am. Karen leave a legacy of love, laughter, and amazing memories with her son Neal O. Jones Jr, and his children Amarie, Ahrianna, and Isaiah she her great-grandchild Ze'ila, her daughter Keyana A. Jones and her children Trevian, A'lishaun, and Jerzell. Deshawn Edwards, and his daughter Katalina Edwards, her eldest brother and sister Phillip Bernard Edwards, and Pauline F. Edwards, younger brother and sister Donald K. Edwards and Valerie E. Williams, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
