Karen Leah Boyd Brown was born on April 29, 1955, to Katherine J. Boyd and Gene R. Boyd. Karen was born at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora CO. She was educated in the Denver Public Schools, she also attended Barnes Business College in 1975-1976. Karen had two beautiful daughters, Monica Windom (Cousar) and Katrina J. Boyd (Bryant).
On November 4, 1979 Karen married Sargent Windell Davis at the United States Air Force Base. They soon transferred to Soesterberg Holland where her children went to school in their early education. Karen was always a hard worker even though she lived in a foreign country, she worked at the base commissary, and she found a part time modeling job in a store in Holland. Oversees in Holland her daughters Katrina and Monica went to Dutch schools and were taught the Dutch language. Katrina and Monica were picked up and dropped off everyday from the Air Force Base in which they were housed. Katrina and Monica were transported by a tour bus and limo everyday to and from school. Karen would call home often to the states and brag on how her girls knew how to speak Dutch. She would often wake her girls out of their sleep to sing Christmas Dutch songs to her friends and families who were back home. Karen and Windell divorced four years later.
Later Karen met and married the love of her life Steven Brown on October 6, 1999. Besides her two
daughters, two grandsons Darian Windom and Keenan James, and granddaughter Jamila Hainesworth, 3
great grandchildren Ka'Lea Windom, Yaki Nhaha, and Jahki Winchester, Brynn Winchester; three bonus
daughters, Geneva Taylor, Jocquette Harper, and Monica James, and don't forget Coco Chanel her favorite puppy.
Although Karen was an only child she grew up with a strong bond of many 1st and 2nd generation cousins, uncles, and aunties. She never really felt too much like an only child. Although Karen loved all of her aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends she absolutely adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always put God first and made sure they did also.Karen enjoyed many school holidays at her grandparents Margaret Brown and Joe Brown's (deceased) home outside of Steamboat Springs in Milner Colorado where she learned to ride snow mobiles, ride horses, and respect many other cultures.
Karen loved the Lord and was baptized at Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada April 2018, and was accompanied by her Daughters, Grandchildren/ Great Grandchildren and Son in law. Karen absolutely loved her family and loved spending quality time and holidays with her family. Her favorite hobby was cooking and creating new dishes in which her daughters and grandchildren called, "Mom's concoctions lol, she also taught her daughters how to be great cooks."
Karen knew her time was approaching to be called home and be with God. She would make sure to tell
her daughters and grandchildren multiple times a day over the phone, through text messages, and social
media much they all meant to her. She always reminded them of how proud she was and how much she
loved them so very much. She wasn't afraid of death, however she didn't want to leave them. On December 26, 2024 Karen was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves a legacy of love and beautiful
memories with her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all those who love her.
Karen is preceded in death by her mother Katherine J. Davis, her father Gene R. Boyd and her
grandparents Joe and Margaret Brown.
