Kamiaya Cleveland
Jul. 31, 2009 - Jul. 06, 2024
With a heart full of love and a spirit that radiated charisma, Kamiaya Keyera Cleveland graced this world with her presence on July 31, 2009, in Denver, Colorado. "Miay Miay," as she was affectionately known, was a vibrant and creative soul who had an extraordinary ability to touch the lives of those around her. Kamiaya could brighten anyone's day with endless laughs and smiles. Her compassionate nature was evident in every interaction she had, and she approached life with an infectious enthusiasm that was impossible to ignore. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." And Kamiaya's love was certainly felt by all who knew her.
Kamiaya's love for her family was paramount. She was a cherished daughter, sister, niece, and granddaughter. She is survived by her loving mother, Krystal Cleveland, her affectionate siblings Kamoni Carter, Kamea Cleveland, Emalachi Shackelford, Ma'Leiyah Ashton, great-grandmother, Beverly Wade, adoring grandparents Lonnie Cleveland, Annie Cleveland, Gregory Shackelford, Sr., Julie Owens, and caring aunts and uncles Kourtney, Kayla, Kandice, Karen, Gregory, Jr., and Joseph. Kamiaya was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Shackelford.
An accomplished cook at a young age, Kamiaya found joy in the kitchen. She delighted in cooking her signature dish, chicken alfredo, and her love for music often filled the kitchen, adding an extra ingredient of joy to each meal she prepared. Kamiaya's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. She was a testament to Maya Angelou's words, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."
