Obituary

Joseph "Joey" Edward Chavez received his wings on December 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Joey was born on September 4, 1961, in Denver, to Richard Leonard Chavez and Alice Montez. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Alice; brothers Richard and Frank Chavez; and many friends.

He is survived by his sister Cindy Carreras; nieces Jolene, Giavonna, Katrina and Marcella Chavez; nephews Mark, Frank, Michael and Matthew Chavez; many friends.

Joey loved lowriders, getting tattoos with his niece Jolene and cruising Feds which back in the day was 38th St. But most of all, he loved his family and friends. For the past 5 years it's been only him and his sister Cindy who fought the fight with him all the way to the end. He lived his life to the fullest and always the life of the party. If it wasn't hitting all the rings on the bar, he was doing karaoke singing "Funky Co Madina." He loved going to Bandimere to watch the dragsters, taking drives to Berkeley park, hitting Rocky Mnt. Park to watch his family and friends shoot shoes. He loved concerts, listening to his oldies, lowrider super shows always dressed the best, creased up always. His family described him as a kind hearted man with not a mean bone in his body. Joey fought all the way to the end. He accepted God into his life and knew where he was going and was ready. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Everyone is asked wear silver and black the night of his service.
Donations can be made towards his service through Harris Funeral Directors.
