Obituary

John Arthur Williams was born during the union of Chester H. Williams and Elizabeth H. Campbell on April 28, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas. After the marriage dissolved and when John was a teenager, Elizabeth blended her family with Cecil Williams adding an additional 7 children to the family. John attended school in the Kansas City school system as a student at Booker T. Washington Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and Lincoln High Schools, respectively. Once John completed his education, he joined the United States Air Force. John served his country at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO from June 19, 1965 - December 13, 1968. After receiving an honorable discharge, John remained in the Denver area and gained employment with the United States Postal Service.

John was a dedicated worker at the Post Office for over 39 1/2 years. While there, John acquired many friends and was probably considered the "life of the party". Talking and laughing were a part of his daily practice and he shared that light with everyone he met.

In an earlier relationship, John was blessed to have a daughter, Nicole L. Williams. Nicole spent her summers as a young girl visiting John in Denver with her sister Yolanda. Later, Nicole's son Morgan A. Williams was born, making him John's only grandchild. Both Nicole and Morgan live in Iowa, but they were fortunate enough to spend their last precious moments with John in July of this year before his passing.

Vasser June Brame-Williams became the love of John's life when they met at the United States Post Office where she also worked. It did not take long after the meeting before John was smitten with June, and they married on December 4, 1974. John and June's life together was filled with family and friends, parties, good food, and special late nights out; they worked hard, but they also played hard. No one would dispute that John loved his "Snookums" aka "Punkin' Puss" because he proclaimed it loudly and often.

Raising their daughter, Jeanette Elizabeth Williams together added even more joy to John and June's life. John was a devoted husband and father. They enjoyed traveling with the Brame family to Oklahoma in 5 or 6 car caravans for family reunions and other family vacations. When they didn't go to Oklahoma, they visited John's family in Missouri. Either way, John's life was filled with the love of his family and closest friends. His smile, laughter, and devotion will live on long beyond his passing.

When June transitioned on July 14, 2009, it was a profound loss for John. His light dimmed that day and his laughter grew a little quieter without her. His family and friends felt it.

John departed this life peacefully and ready to meet "Snookums" on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO. Those left to cherish him and his memory are: his mother, Elizabeth H. Williams of Denver; his daughters, Nicole L. Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jeanette E. Williams of Denver; his grandson, Morgan A. Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA; 3 brothers, Cecil Williams, Reginald Tyrone (Johnnie) Harmon of Kansas City, MO and Ronald (Jean) Williams of Surprise, Arizona; 3 sisters, Andrea Lynn King of Kansas City, KS, Carla Jo Williams of Bradenton, Florida and Marguerite (Phillip)Williams-Downing of Los Angeles, California; 3 brothers-in-law, John B.
