Mr. Joel Vincent Polk was born in Denver, CO, on July 28, 1955, to his mother, Una Polk, and
Father Joel Polk Jr. He was the baby brother of sister, Marsha Polk. As a child Mr. Polk was very gifted and talented, excelling at all his studies. He loved to laugh and joke, even being known as a prankster by some with a bit of a mischievous side! He loved to play street football outside with friends and go bowling at the recreation center Celebrity!

Educated in the Denver Public Schools System, Mr. Polk attended Columbine Elementary
School and Cole Middle School. He later graduated from Manual High School in 1973
where he played the saxophone and was a part of the School's Marching Band. From there, he attended Prairie View A & M on a full-ride Golf Scholarship. While attending college, he was a part of the world-renowned Prairie View A & M Marching band, where he also played the saxophone. At that time, the university was recognized as one of the top ten greatest marching bands in the country."Mr. Polk graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education in 1978. Following graduation, he further utilized his God given gift of playing the saxophone for different clubs across the city! It was at this time that Mr. Polk decided to pursue a career with the state of Colorado in the Public Sector for many years. Mr. Polk was also employed with the Colorado Division of Veterans Affairs. He achieved additional certifications while assisting the public at the government level during this time.

Mr. Polk (aka Bubby) was the loving and fun uncle of two lovely and exquisite nieces, Amber Nicole and Kirsten Shay. He loved his nieces, and they both love him. Mr. Joel Vincent Polk was very passionate about family. Little did he realize the magnitude of what his family would become. Both of Bubby's nieces and his eldest great nephew would start families of their own with their spouses, Marcus Sr., Andrew, and Samir. From these 3 unions came 5 great nephews, 1 great niece, 1 great great nephew, and 1 great great niece, soon to follow: Joshua II, Jade, J'lon, Marcus Jr., Jordan, Liam, and Joshua III.

Mr. Polk married his former wife, Patricia, in 1987 at their lovely home in Denver, Colorado. The two of them loved to travel, go to family gatherings, dancing, dining and attending soft ball games.

He was also a long-time member of the prestigious family church, Scott United Methodist, for his entire life. He is to be honored for his longevity in membership at the 2025 Annual Church Anniversary for 70 years of membership!

Mr. Polk loved to travel, traveling abroad many times throughout the years as well as within the country. He loved to cook, eat, play golf, listen to the GAP Band, Charlie Wilson, Stevie Wonder, and even a little Ice Cube here and there, too! He loved of course, watching sports, but one of his favorite shows was "The Braxtons!"

Mr. Joel Vincent Polk will always be remembered for his courageous, fearless spirit,
resilience in any situation presented to him, his laughter, love, and the fact that he never
met a stranger!
