On September 8, 2026, we lost a remarkable soul, James "Boobie" Curry. Born on December 26, 1949, in Thomaston, AL, James was a funny and reliable man whose life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. He was a thoughtful individual, always ready with a joke or a kind word, lifting the spirits of those around him. As the famous quote goes, "To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world." In James's case, he was indeed the world to those fortunate enough to know him.

James was a man of many talents, but his greatest passion was working with cars. He spent 40-plus fulfilling years as a mechanic, a profession he loved and excelled in. His dedication and hard work led him to the proud accomplishment of owning his own business. His love for his work was only surpassed by the love he had for his family and friends. He was a loving husband to Leola Curry, a devoted father to his daughter Genis (Damon), and an adoring grandfather to Leah. His family was his pride and joy, and he poured his heart and soul into ensuring their happiness and well-being. James is survived by six sisters: Susie (A.C.) Hudson, Thomaston, Alabama; Carolyn Johnson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Doris Johnson, Mobile, Alabama; Listine Curry, Denver, Colorado; Geraldine Wallis, Killeen, Texas; and Tracy Mitchell, Thomaston, Alabama. Seven brothers: Jimmy Curry, Rochester, New York, Walter Curry, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bobby (Katana) Curry, Denver, Colorado; Willie (Catrina) Curry, Faunsdale, Alabama; Raymond Mitchell, Greensboro, Alabama; Clark (Kecia) Curry, Hueytown, Alabama; and Shawn (Pamela)Curry, Thomaston, Alabama.

Throughout his life, James made a profound impact on all who knew him. His love for his family and determination to help his friends and community were truly heaven-sent. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and a life lived with purpose and joy. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved wife Leola, his daughter Genis, and his grandchild Leah. He now joins his parents, Bernice and Jimmy Curry, who preceded him in death.
