Idella Annie Holiway, affectionately known as "Rita", daughter of Eddie and Ernestine Price, was born on August 15,1960 in Detroit Michigan. Idella attended Morley Elementary, McMillan Middle School, and Southwestern High School. From childhood, Idella was deeply rooted in her faith. Raised in the church, she knew every song and hymn by heart, using music as a source of comfort and expression. She married Paul Holiway on June 3, 1989 and together they raised three children, Elliot Price age 48, Sherita Holiway age 34, and Alicia Holiway age 26. Paul and Idella met while in their 20s, Paul knew once he met her, it was love at first sight. "My mother once told me that I had met my match when I met Idella". How true those words were. After dating for a few months Paul proposed to Idella and they were happily married for 35 years.
"She was a guiding light in our family, leading me, our children, and our grandchildren to Christ". Her devotion extended to her church community, where she served with passion, often cooking for the congregation and contributing as an ambassador of faith. Idella was a hardworking entrepreneur, together her and Paul started a cleaning business that was owned and operated for over 25 years. She was an avid home chef, she participated in bowling, and was an active member in their church, Harvest Church.
She got the opportunity to travel to Kansas City, Missouri, Detroit, Michigan, Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, Miami, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Harvest Caye, Roatán, and several other locations. Idella, a remarkable woman, left us with cherished memories and an enduring legacy of love, faith, and devotion. As a caring and giving wife, mother, and grandmother, she touched the lives of everyone around her with her kindness and strength. She was a woman of honesty and integrity, never one to sugarcoat the truth.
While some may have struggled with her directness, they knew her heart was always in the right place. There was nothing she wouldn't do for those in need. Even in her toughest days, she remained a hardworking and unstoppable force, always on the go, always giving whatever she could to others. Idella's love, spirit, and unwavering faith will be missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
