A mother, sister, aunt, cousin and a social butterfly to all who come in her presence, Gwendolyn E. Jones known as "Grimpy" passed away on Saturday June 22, 2024.
A native of Guilford County, North Carolina Gwendolyn E. Jones was born to Clementine E. Jones and Levi Norman Jones on February 3, 1955. Gwendolyn was a native of Guilford County, North Carolina where she attended school from elementary to graduating from Ben E. Smith High School. She loved to laugh, and she met no strangers. Gwen was a great communicator who cared about her craft and the things she wrote about. She would write about all her dreams with the Hope of carrying them out. Gwendolyn later met Alec whom she would marry and started a family where they would relocate due to Alec serving in the armed forces with the Army branch to California. During the course of training and period of time, Alec would move on, and they departed their ways where Gwendolyn relocated to Denver, Colorado where she decided to call Denver her HOME.
A strong, resolute, and sassy lady, Grimpy had an interest in posing and modeling. She was able to land a job in modeling and boy that was the highlight of a dream come true for her. It wasn't in the professional industry, but you could not tell her that. It was the happiest time of her life. This is where she told us to call her Whitney Houston., who was her favorite singer. If you knew anything about my aunt, you knew she was the life of the party and known as the jokester. She would always call back home checking on the family as well as visiting from time to time while creating some fireworks. We shall miss our talks and laughs that we all shared and remember the love until you took your last breath. Until we meet again, WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
Preceding her in death was her only son, Roderick Shawn Jones, mom, Clementine Jones, dad, Levi Norman Jones, Grandfather Paul Miller, Grandmother Louise Miller, several aunts, and uncles as well as cousins.
She leaves to mourn three sisters, Joetta Miller, Shelia Harris(Willie) and Annette Graves(widow) and two brothers Roger "Rudy" Miller and Levi Jeff Jones, nieces April Hughes(Sherman) Wanda Miller, Kimberly Miller, Diane Miller, Sabrina Jones and Alexis Graves and one nephew Brian Harris. A very special, devoted friend and caretaker until the end, Ms. Loretta Elmira Tolbert and her niece Detri Wilkins, a host of cousins and friends.
