First Sergeant Percy William Bell, Jr. was born on December 30, 1956 to Percy William Bell, Sr. and Maelove Prince Bell in Memphis, Tennessee. His family moved to Chicago where he started his educational endeavors in the Chicago Public Schools. He completed his high school diploma after enlisting in the U.S. Army.
He attended bootcamp at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, CO. Percy was stationed in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Pirmasens, Germany, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and ultimately retired in Aurora, CO. During his service, he received numerous awards and honors including National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, German Marksman Badge, and many others.
Percy was an optical supervisor at Kaiser Permanente where he met and later married Carolyn. He was a member of King Baptist Church. While living in Gary, Indiana for a short time, he was honored to be ordained as a deacon on March 20, 2016 while on watch care at Jesus Saves Missionary Baptist Church. Upon his return to Denver, he resumed his membership at King Baptist. Percy had a passion for golf and convinced his wife to purchase a home in a golf community. He also loved creating things with his hands and had a workshop in the basement of their home. He was a collector of many things and had every kitchen gadget imaginable. Although Percy and Carolyn didn't share any biological children, they had their "furbaby" Lexi for 17 years. Lexi couldn't imagine life without"her dad" and passed away on the same day.
Percy is survived by his wife Carolyn "Cookie" Bell, his children; Percy William Bell III (Khrisi), Anthony Bell (Anne), Terrell Harrision (Delfina), Tamika Harrison, and Tiana Harrison. He will forever be cherished and remembered by his 10 grandchildren Tia, Terrell II, Kennedy, Brandyn, Alana, Jordyn, Marcus, Olivia, Gavin, and Sadie. His memory lives on with his sisters and brothers; Cheryl Bell, Larry Bell, Benita (James) Thomas, Sondra Bell, Walter (Toshanti) Prince, La'tawn (Bill) Prince, Latonya Prince, his aunt Betty Lambert, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Percy is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Wanda Bell.
He passed away on April 1, 2023 at the age of 66 at his home in Aurora, CO.
We are blessed to have had him in our lives and thank God for every minute we shared with him.
