Fayetta Denise Brown was born on February twenty first, nineteen hundred and sixty-two in Denver, Colorado. She was the baby of seven children born to the union of Herman H. Mays and Artie Fay Mays. Fayetta, aka DeeDee, was a very happy and humorous child, which carried over into her adult life because she loved to play jokes on people. She and her brother Leonard (aka Waynie) grew up close to and spent a lot of time with their cousins
Sherrie and Bruce Bean.
As a child, DeeDee was raised in the church and attended the Prince Of Peace COGIC, where she was a part of the holiday programs that were presented by her aunt, mother Shirley Bean, and she sang in the choir under the direction of Marcille Pernell, she never stopped singing until the day she passed. She remained a member of Prince of Peace, although due to health issues, she was unable to attend regularly.
DeeDee was educated in the Denver public school system and graduated from South high school. She got her first job working for a newspaper called the Denver Weekly News, where she did clerical work but was studying to become a darkroom technician.
Later in life DeeDee was introduced to Kevin Brown by her brother Waynie and Kevin became the love of her life and not long after that the two were married. To that union two daughters were born, Ihishia Denise Brown and Shauntel Erlene Brown.
After the birth of DeeDee's children she found employment and enjoyed working and being a mother. She loved being around family and having a good time. She was one who would make you laugh even when you didn't want to. DeeDee loved to eat and would let you know that she was hungry and feed her some mac and cheese and chicken. She was always fashionable and made sure that she was well put together before leaving home.
In the past five years, DeeDee's health started to decline. She was cared for and loved by family members until her passing. Fayetta was preceded in death by her parents, Herman H. and Artie Fay Mays-Paden, three brothers, Richard (Ricky), Charles (Chuck), and Vernon (Vern) Mays.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Ihishia Denise Brown and Shauntel Erlene Brown, three sisters, Carolyn Adams, Melody(Freddie) Stewart, and Delores Paden, two brothers, Leonard(Waynie) Mays and Donald Paden, one aunt, Shirley Bean, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
