Elizabeth Jeanette "Jeannie" (Haskell) Sanford, 70, of Denver, Colorado, was called home on April 18th, 2025. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will always be remembered for her loving kindness, her strength and drive, and of course, we'll never forget her Native sense of humor.
Jeannie was born on February 2, 1955, at the Old Cheyenne River agency, South Dakota, to Barbara Marlene Zephier and David Delbert Haskell Sr. She was the first of nine children growing up as a member of the Lakota tribe on the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation in Eagle
Butte, S.D. Jeannie loved all her brothers and sisters and became her mother's right hand in helping to raise them. She became an amazing cook, and her bread was. She took a lot of pride in being a big sister and a mother figure to the younger kids.
Jeannie spent her school years both at St. Mary's boarding school and in Eagle Butte. In 1972, she married Randall TwoCrow and had two beautiful children, Theodore Randall TwoCrow (Denver, CO) and Heather Jeanette (TwoCrow) Bolton (Denver, CO). Although this union did not
last, Jeannie remained in Denver. In 1980, she met and married Percnell Q Sanford and had two more beautiful children, Escha Elizabeth Sanford and Skye Talish Sanford, and embraced a step- daughter, Marina E Sanford.
Jeannie and Percy were very active members of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Percy assisted with services, and Jeannie taught Sunday school while they raised their combined family among their church community. Jeannie found her niche with Denver Public Service
(later Excel Energy) and dedicated nearly 10 years. After suffering a work injury which ended her career, she left Denver to return to Eagle Butte, joining her mother, who had also returned. She remained for more than 10 years, returning to Denver in 2017. She spent her remaining years reconnecting with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Jeannie is preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers - Timothy Edward Haskell, William Dennis Haskell and David Delbert Haskell Jr. and a daughter – Escha Elizabeth Sanford. She is survived by her husband, Percy, three brothers - Dana Sherman Haskell, Delaine Reed Haskell, Micheal James Haskell; two sisters Tamela Kay Haskell, Lori Lee Haskell, and her children Theodore, Marina, Heather, Skye, along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
