Obituary

Derotha Williams was born April 26, 1948 in Little Rock Arkansas. Her mother was Lou Ira King. Derotha was the oldest of six, three brothers Lee King, Carl King, and Danny King, and two sisters Doris King and Ruth King. Growing up Derotha did domestic work to help the family. Derotha went tot Nelson High School where she met Melvin Martin and later were married. Derotha and Melvin had eight children. Melvin Campbell, Carolyn Martin, Larry Martin, Felicia Martin, Stacey Martin, Tracey Martin, Danielle Yorks, and Regina Martin. Derotha and Melvin moved their family to Colorado in 1977. Derotha worked for Gates Rubber Company, and later worked for Coor's Brewing Company where she retired. Derotha went to visit her aunt Brenda in California and gave her life to the Lord. She attended Grace Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. Charles Hopkins. Derotha loved her family and wanted to keep them together. She would cook and for sure everybody would show up. Derotha loved shopping, cooking, and listening to the blues. You can say she was a "jack of all trades."

Derotha was preceded in death by her son Larry Martin, her daughter Felicia Martin, her mother Lou King, grandmother Fannie Brassfield, her aunts Clara Brassfield, Vera Ferguson and Rosie Hinton, uncle O.C. Winston and two of her good friends Willie B. Collins and Marlene Owens.

Left to continue her legacy are her children, Melvin Campbell(Andrea) of Denver CO, Carolyn Martin of Shreveport, LA, Stacey Martin (Gwen) of Denver CO, Tracey Martin of Shreveport, LA, Danielle Yorks (Wayne) of Shreveport LA, Regina Martin (Amir Marconi) of Denver CO, her favorite aunt Brenda of California, 36 grandchildren, 44 great grands, 3 great great grands, and a host of family and friends.
