Deacon William Nathaniel Harris was born on June 22,1932 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel & Hattie (Rollinson) Harris in the Calhoun Falls area of Abbeville, South Carolina. Deacon Harris was known to his family as "Moe." He married the love of his life, Mother Virgie Lucile (Manier) Harris and they were together for 65 years. They have two sons, William (Bill) and Michael (Mike), whom they love dearly. His love for his family and his passion for the great outdoors was genuine. Deacon Harris also had a love for cars and driving. He could be found pulling out his Atlas Map and driving just about any and everywhere throughout the Continental United States. He could also be found spending quality time with his wife as well. The two shared their love of family, life experiences, and many special moments with their extended family and friends.
Deacon Harris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. To those who knew him, they realized he would help anyone he could. Even though he had two biological sons, Deacon Harris also had a host of others that could call him "dad." He loved the Lord and served as a faithful member of Faith Temple, Church of God in Christ (COGIC) for many years.
Deacon Harris' educational background was extensive, as he was a member of the Armed Forces, serving in the United States Army, until he retired at 20 years. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training to learn his special skills. While serving in the Army Deacon Harris earned certification as a Projector Equipment Repairman, graduating from the course in 1959. He also attended the United States Army Signal School Diploma Satellite Communication Terminal Course in 1968, learning how to operate and maintain various communications equipment for military operations. He gained additional certifications through AT&T, IBM, CALS for installation and maintenance, and Engineering 197-97 Course, Franklin University.
Deacon Harris worked for the United States Postal Services for over 20 years and Cal Parks Companies CMTS for over 25 years. His work ethics was unmatched, and he took very good care of his beautiful wife and family throughout his lifetime of work. He was a great example for his sons and their families, and he will never be forgotten.
Deacon Harris leaves behind to mourn his wife-Virgie Lucile (Manier) Harris; sons William Harris, Denver, CO, Michael and Betty Harris (Parker) Denver, CO; grandsons Michael Nathaniel Harris and Samuel Steven Harris; granddaughter (Keiona) Nicole Robinson, Jacksonville FL; 8-great grandchildren; his brother John Harris, Cincinnati OH; King Harris (Denver Co); his sister Hattie E. Haris- Al, California, and a host of nieces and nephews.
