David Allen Oswalt, fondly known as Dave, departed from this earthly life on January 25, 2025. Born on October 21, 1961, in Sterling, CO, USA, Dave was a man of great charm and warmth. He lived his life with gusto and a sprightly spirit that touched the hearts of many. He resided in Merced, California, where he was known and respected for his skills as a jack of all trades, specializing in Refrigeration and HVAC. He was a man of many talents, who brought warmth to the coldest of places with his vibrant personality and expert craftsmanship. As Walt Whitman once said, "Every moment of light and dark is a miracle", and Dave embodied this sentiment by finding joy and spreading light everywhere he went.
David was a devoted father to his children - Serenity, Samuel, and Daniel (Elizabeth) Oswalt. As a father, he instilled in his children the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of spreading kindness. He was a loving brother to Helen Trumbell, Rossann Johnson, and Jeffrey Oswalt. He was a doting grandfather to Ian and Elara Spicher, Briella, Grace, and Royce Oswalt. He also leaves behind his trusted companion, Barkley the dog, and a host of nieces and nephews - Rebecca Oswalt, Patrick Mehaffey, and Jackson King. David was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Mildred Oswalt, his brother, William Oswalt, and his beloved dog, Teddy Bear.
David's life, though marked by the ordinary realities of human existence, was extraordinary in its impact. He was a beacon of positivity, strength, and resilience that inspired those around him. His life was a testament to the fact that it's not about how much we do, but how much love we put into what we do that counts. As Mother Teresa once said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." David lived his life in accordance with this principle, and his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate to know him.
