On a snowy Christmas morning December 25,1951 Christopher Michael Johnston was born to Joseph Johnston & Bertha Elizabeth Johnston. He was the fifth of nine children (Joseph, Gwendolyn, Patricia ,Alfonso , Charles , Ronald , Lorraine, Richard) Chris was born in the home of 2800 Franklin st. He was delivered at home by Dr.Justina ford who was the first licensed African American female doctor in Colorado.
Chris started his education at Wyatt elementary followed by Cole junior high school. He developed many skills such as becoming a barber, painter and certified personal trainer, with hobbies that include playing basketball, working out, playing chess, watching movies to name a few.
He became a state golden glove champion and turned professional boxer in the late 1970s he was 5-0 in his professional career before unfortunately losing his hand in a work accident. This however did not stop him from achieving his purpose in life.
Chris was a son, brother , husband ,father , grandfather, uncle ,friend, and his dependability was unmatched. Big hearted and always giving in your time of need ,His door was always open, his knowledge, guidance and wisdom were never withheld. His presence was always felt.
Loved and respected by many , Christopher Johnston Sr. Leaves behind a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
On May 14, 2024 he departed from this earth joining his parents Joseph & bertha Elizabeth Johnston, including his brothers Ronald and Alfonso Johnston.
leaving behind 3 children, Crystal Coleman , Christopher Johnston II, Krystyn Johnston, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 6 siblings, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He will be truly missed, forever remembered, loved and appreciated.
