Beverly Ann Coleman, a beacon of strength, love, and resilience, departed from this life on March 15, 2026. Born on December 20, 1947, in Tampa, Florida to Ernest and Mercedes Sheffield. Beverly was a woman of faith, an adored wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She was a counselor, coworker, and at times, an unexpected comedian. She was an exceptional woman, who, in the words of Maya Angelou, "stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails."
Beverly was not a woman who accepted mediocrity. She believed in the potential of those around her, often more than they did themselves. A hardworking woman, she often held down two jobs, refusing to let her circumstances define her. She was a single mother to three boys, raising them to become successful men. Beverly was firm but loving, and she wasn't one to be crossed lightly. Her dedication to her children was unwavering, and her love, boundless.
Beverly valued education and pursued it relentlessly. She not only achieved her Bachelor of Science degree, but went on to complete her Master's degree later in life. She worked as an insurance underwriter before retiring to Denver, Colorado. Beverly was a Sunday School teacher who loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. Beverly's legacy extends beyond her professional successes and personal accomplishments to the impact she had on those around her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Mercedes and Ernest Sheffield, sister Jeanie Marie Sheffield and granddaughter LaShaunda Haynes.
Beverly leaves to cherish her legacy of love her husband, James Sr. her daughter Jewel Sheffield; sons Ronnie Bishop, Michael Bishop and Ernest Bishop (Dakeana); step-son James R. Coleman Jr., sisters Cynthia Riley, Shelia Wilson, Cathy Sheffield and Ernestine McCarty (Willie) 6 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Beverly's spirit, her love, and her wisdom will forever be cherished. Her Mac & Cheese and Peach Cobbler will always be missed. Her life was a testament to the power of resilience, and her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
