It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Armie Jewel Gaskin, affectionately known as Sis. Jewel or Ms.G, on December 31, 2023. Born in the peaceful town of Palacios, Texas, on October 30, 1945, Armie's spirited personality and loving heart touched every life she encountered.

Her thoughtful nature and generous spirit were manifested in every facet of her life, from her career as a Safeway Accountant to her delightful hobby of sewing and baking, which brought joy to many.

Armie was more than just an accomplished accountant and a skilled baker; she was a loving mother, a precious friend, an admired seamstress, and an ardent crossword solver. Her Lemon Poundcakes were legendary, and her Strawberry Short Cake, a special treat she lovingly baked for her son Samuel's birthday, was undoubtedly the highlight of the celebration. "The secret ingredient is always love," she used to say, and indeed, every piece of clothing she sewed and every cake she baked was a testament to that love. It was this same love that motivated her to be not only a mother but also a father figure to Samuel, instilling in him life lessons that shaped his character.

Armie is survived by her son, Samuel (Bernadette) Williams Sr., her daughter-in-law Bernadette (Samuel) Williams, her grandson Sam Jr., her granddaughter Sieria Bell, her cherished sister friend Shayron Moore, and her beautiful great-grandchildren Jayce and Trinity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leta and Roosevelt Hope; her loving husband, Rodney Gaskin; her son, Earl Gaskin; her siblings, Shirley Duncan, Norma Hardin, Josephine Leali, Leonard Hope, Delano Hope, and Andy Bob Hope.
