On May 20th 2003 the world was blessed with a gifted, talented, creative, strong, ambitious, loving and understanding young man whose unique name was Amacris Xavier Harlan. You all called him "Diesel".
For 20 years Amacris would shine bright like the sun. Amacris was one of God's greatest creations…
Amacris's life was a testament of what young black men go through in society today. His struggles were real, his pains were real, his fears were real. Most importantly his love was real, his pride was real, his ambition was real. He made sure he created a world on his terms. Right or wrong he remained true to himself and his beliefs. He was funny, creative, talented and loved. He had the amazing ability to make a whole room smile and strangers feel at ease. Amacris was a good man, with a good heart. Amacris was a good son, brother and friend.
Amacris loved competition, especially in football. He had a dream of making it to the NFL. He was on his way to doing big things and making his dreams come true. Amacris played football for the Colorado Sting and excelled at being one of the best in the game at that level. He was going places. He was focused on what he wanted to do because he knew it would get him where he wanted to be. His focus was pinpoint surgical like a laser and he knew he was going far because he was gifted and talented beyond all understanding.
Amacris believed in happiness and honesty. He believed in love, He was everybody's best friend. Amacris had a heart of gold and would protect anybody. He was kind hearted and had a dominating presence. Amacris would give the shirt off his back for the people he loved.
From a handshake and just knowing your name he had a passion for making people comfortable, happy and loved. Amacris was young and eager to experience the whole world; like a chocolate Sundae. He wanted it all at once and there is no doubt he had the potential to have everything his heart desired.
Since Amacris's departure from this world so many people have reached out to tell of the positive impact he had on their life. Amacris was a protector, a friend, a confidant but most of all he was a good person. Amacris was just 20 years old but he had the wisdom and the mind of an older man. All agree he was taken far too soon.
August 27th 2023 at 6:20 p.m. Amacris was betrayed. His bright light was extinguished on this planet, in this reality; but he moved on to a better place. He moved on to a place of peace, serenity and the strongest love that we on earth could ever know or imagine.
God has him in his arms now.
Amacris goes before us and is preparing a place in heaven for his grandmother Annie Williams, mother Cristine Trujillo-Harlan, His Father Amadeus Harlan, his sister Angelique Harlan, brothers Amarion Harlan, Johnny LaWain Paige, Raughshee Nelson and the most precious to him, his nieces Kylie Marie Summers and Kyonna Malia Summers. To the family that he loved with all his heart and wanted to know better, Thelma Kay, Coby Wayne, and Fredrick Chambers,, Adam, Steven and Anthony Williams, Derrick Williams. Aunt Faye and Uncle Jimmy Garcia.
He joins his Sister Jonay Harlan, Grandmother Elizabeth Trujillo, Grandfather Airia John Harlan Sr, Uncle Belt Harlan Jr, Billy Joe Harlan Sr, Doris Ann Williams and Great Grandmother Wilner Harlan. And he is dancing in heaven with his beloved and cherished friend Brandale Austin.
Rest in peace Amacris. You will be missed.
