Zuwa Goro
January 1, 1995
Zuwa Goro was born on 01/01/1995 in Irucuro, D.R.C Congo, Africa. However, everyone who knew him called him by his stage name, “Goro.” His stage name Goro means the fifth son or enlightened son in Japanese. Goro graduated from New American School in 2015. Goro considered his mother, Eugen Karekezi and Rukasa Claude as his best friends. Before his unexpected death on February 11, 2022, Goro was an employee of the Street Fraternity in the East Colfax neighborhood. As an ambassador of Street Fraternity, his duties were adjusted to serve the needs of the community during the Pandemic. His duties included but were not limited to picking, preparing food for dinner, and preparing grocery backs to distribute to the communities. Everyone in the community knew Goro and loved him because Goro listened to the people’s daily concerns and made sure that he took care of their needs. Goro genuinely cared for the community and tirelessly worked to help his community. In his various capacities, Goro helped hundreds of community members and young men within Street Fraternity. Goro helped young men become outstanding members of Street Fraternity and mentored youths to develop positive self-images and be respectful to everyone. Goro always had the right state of mind and was a deep thinker, and asks the right questions. During his free time, Goro wrote songs, produced music videos, and performed for youths at Street Fraternity. The majority of his songs involved his childhood, the youths, and his love for his family, friends, and the East Colfax neighborhood. Though Goro spent his childhood playing in outdoor environments like every kid in Congo, he always loved singing from a young age, according to Therese Mukandakezi, his mother. His mother recalls that Goro sang every time, even when he prepared food for her. Since his childhood, Goro took care of his mother, more so when Goro and his mother crossed the ocean resettling in Colorado as refugees, where he consistently took care of his Mama. His Mama describes him as a genius and perfectionist from his early days to adulthood. His colleagues highly acknowledge this sentiment at Street Fraternity and within the East Colfax neighborhood. Colleagues at Street Fraternity say that Goro has transformed his life within a very short time and has had positive impacts on the lives of young men in the East Colfax neighborhood. Goro hails from the Uwambajimana Eme family, and he spoke multiple languages, including Kinyarwanda. Goro was the only child of his mother. Zuwa Goro yavutse 01/01/1995 Irucuro, D.R.C Congo, Afurika.
