Orlinda Marie Buckner-Turner was born on March 18, 1963, in Denver, Colorado, to her parents, Roosevelt Buckner and Jacqueline Curry. She was the sixth child born in the family of seven children. Her brothers, William, Matthew, and Reginald, and her sisters, Antoinette, Sharon, and Teresa remember Orlinda, being a quiet child, who listened more than they all did. She was the last child to leave home.
Orlinda attended school between Denver, Colorado, and California. She went to Whitter in Denver, then moved to California for Middle and High School.
While in the California area, Orlinda met Donald Turner, Sr. They became inseparable and their love grew into a partnership, the two would marry on May 4, 1988, in Lynwood, California. To this union, three children were born, Genette, Felicia, Donald, Jr., and she later met Gregory Andre Brown and Jacktane Buckner was born. The family would spend time together at the 123 Splash, going to the Drive-In, sitting at Stapleton watching the planes take off, and eating at Mexico City, Country Buffet, Kapre Chicken, and the Curtis Park Creamery. They also spent time at the Flea Market, WWF, and the Circus. They just enjoyed each other's company. Later, Orlinda was blessed with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who called her "Nana." Nana loved taking the grandchildren to Chucky Cheese, Fantastic Fun, the Circus, Disney on Ice, and so many other fun places. Orlinda enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren
By profession, Orlinda worked in the restaurant/hospitality industry as a Cook. She was employed by Carl's Jr. in North Long Beach, and later, she worked for St. Joseph Hospital, in Denver.
Orlinda loved putting her hands to work, as she was an active member of 22nd Avenue Mission and Agape Christian Church for more than 15 years. She cooked, sang in the choir, and ushered.
In her free time, Orlinda enjoyed carousing at Club Spice, Bernard's, and Kasbah. Her road dog, Tina Hunter, will remember Orlinda volunteering in the cafeteria with her at McGlone Elementary School. She had a heart of gold. Her family and friends will remember her for the love she shared with so many.
Orlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Turner, Sr.; her father, Roosevelt Buckner, her brother, Reginald "Reggie" Meadows, and her Poodle, Baby King.
On September 16, 2022, Orlinda Marie Buckner-Turner accepted her new assignment in eternity. She leaves her legacy and love with her children, Genette Turner, Felicia Buckner-Turner, Donald Ray Turner, Jr, his wife Deja Turner, and Jacktane Buckner; her mother, Jacqueline Curry; her grandchildren, Keondra Turner-Hester, Mariona Mackey, Mario Mackey, Jr., Samiya Turner, Donald Ray Turner III, Omari Turner, and Telayla Turner; great-grandchildren, Khyrie Turner-Hester, and KarMelo Turner-Hester; her siblings, William Smith, Matthew Vicks, Antoinette Smith, Sharon Buckner, and Teresa Hayward; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
