Ms. Maria Wooden

Maria De Los Angeles Wooden passed away on December 21, 2020 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Maria was born to Maria Pizarro and Juan Roman August 18, 1945 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. On April 13, 1968 she married William K. Wooden of Crawfordsville, Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Wooden traveled the world with the US Army and made friends everywhere they lived. In 1982, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where both remained until their deaths. William K Wooden proceeded her in death on September 29, 2008. Maria worked as a sous chef and volunteered her time at various food pantries. Maria was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She was the life of the party. Maria was a good mother who taught her daughters and grandchildren to never give up and keep working towards their goals. There was nothing she would not try to fix, if it needed fixed, she would figure out a way to get it done. Maria enjoyed watching her daughters and grandchildren play sports and was an avid Bronco fan. She was a hard worker and encouraged her children to work hard. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their special events and sporting events. She was proud to be a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proceeded in death by her father Juan Roman, mother Maria Pizarro. She is survived by her loving brother Alberto Roman (Enemir Roman); two daughters Maria Whyte (James Whyte), and Rochelle Vigil (Jonathan Vigil); and two bonus sons, Anthony Wooden (Jackie Wooden) and Milton “Woody” Wooden (Carolyn Wooden). Her grandchildren are Dylan Whyte, Evan Whyte (Whitley Whyte), Khadijah Vigil, Dante Vigil, Leilah Vigil, Jameelah Vigil, Kamilah Vigil, Maceo Vigil, Kenny Perkins (Amber Perkins), Xavier Wooden (Tia Wooden), Na’quiya Nelson-Ivy (Bill Ivy), Ashton Wooden (Jericka Wooden), Ashley Wooden, and Elijah Wooden. Great-grandchildren Kennedy Perkins, Kylah Perkins, Tiauna Wooden, Talia Wooden, Xander Wooden, Xachary Wooden, Goldyn Johnson, Toribio Vigil, and Mayella Vigil. She is survived by host of nieces, cousins, and friends.
