Mrs. Aura Marina Portillo

Aura Marina. Portillo, age 72, passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Swedish Medical Hospital in Denver Colorado. She was born June 9, 1948 in Tacana San Marcos, Guatemala to Telmo Roblero and Encarnación Bustamante. She was a graduate of La Escuela Primaria de Tacana San Marcos and La Escuela de comercio de Guatemala in secretarial commercial business. She Married Victor Manuel. Portillo in Chicago, IL. Together after both accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior both worked zealously for the Kingdom as church launchers and missionaries in the Chicago area, pioneering Spanish Evangelical Christian radio program preaching the word of God over the air waves, both singing at local churches, delivering groceries to families in need, going door to door telling their neighbors the good new of the gospel, counseling broken marriages, bringing bible studies to the Chicago prison inmates, hosting small group bible studies in their apartment, opening their doors to notorious neighborhood drug addicts and drug dealers ministering to them and helping them recover, all this while working full time job and raising a family. Years later after husband fell ill and joined his heavenly maker. Aura was able to become a Certified foster mother for the city of Chicago opening her home to a wide range of children in need of a good christian home. The opportunity arose for adoption of two children, after finding out that there are three other siblings and it would be devastating to separate them Aura opened her huge heart and adopted all five children ( Jesse, Jackie, Angel, Olivia and Nicholas). Aura Loved them Very much. Aura enjoyed life to the fullest through simple pleasures; caring for her children, nieces and nephews, grand children on a regular basis, chatting with friends and family, always a good joke to tell and make us laugh, committed to reading the Bible every morning, dancing, savoring new Chinese dishes with vegetables, shopping, but also enjoyed playing a good game of basketball at the local park, watching telenovelas and a good karate action movie. She had an uncanny ability to reach people and make them feel loved. She enjoyed singing, composing new songs inspired by her life experience and the word of God. She recorded a music CD entitled “Cristo Belleza Sin Par” with ten original songs. She was a regularly invited guest to the Women's International Congress in the city of Flores, Guatemala. Recently she volunteered at a home nursery playing ukulele, singing and giving bible study and teaching approximately twenty children about Jesus Christ. Preceded in death by Husband Victor M. Portillo ,Son Victor R. Portillo. She is survived by Edna E. Portillo(daughter) Sandy E. Ied (granddaughter) - David Garcia (grandson) - Noemi Portillo (Granddaughter), Abner Portillo (Son), Acsa Portillo (Daughter). Jesus Portillo (Jesse son), Jacqueline Portillo ( Jackie Daughter ) , Angel Portillo (Son), Olivia Portillo (Daughter), Nicholas Portillo (Nick son ). Frances M. Portillo (Granddaughter), Natalie G.
